Weather Preparations at Aintree for the 2025 Grand National
Ahead of the much-anticipated 2025 Grand National, Aintree Racecourse is busy ensuring the best possible track conditions. With a dry forecast dominating the headlines, strategic watering started two weeks before the event to maintain the optimal conditions of 'good to soft' on the Grand National course and 'good, good to soft in places' on the Mildmay course. This proactive approach aims to combat the absence of rain and provide a fair and safe racing surface for all participants.
The Met Office is promising dry skies and plenty of sunshine for racegoers over the three-day spectacle. Temperatures are expected to reach a warm 18°C during midweek, offering a pleasant atmosphere for spectators and participants alike. Yet, come Grand National Day, temperatures are expected to moderate to around 15°C, paired with an easterly wind blowing at 11mph. Saturday will also see sunny intervals, providing perfect weather for the excitement of race day.
The Buzz Around the 2025 Grand National
With promising weather on the cards, the demand for tickets is nearing the peak levels seen last year. Ladies’ Day, in particular, has caught the public’s eye, with tickets flying out of the window. The Festival Zone, a hotspot for dedicated fans, sold out days ago, and grandstand tickets are close to being fully booked. Come Saturday, the sales are expected to mirror those of 2024, proving once again the magnetic appeal of this historic event.
Those unable to make it to Aintree will not miss out as ITV has planned extensive coverage. The first two days will see the first six races showcased, while the ever-popular Grand National Day will feature the first five races, starting from 15:15 BST. It’s not just live races to hook viewers; a behind-the-scenes look at the Grand National will be featured in an episode of the Unscripted series available on ITV Racing's YouTube channel, bringing fans closer to the action and the intricate preparations that make this event so iconic.
